Calls: UMT lead the county in 2014

LEWISTON – In 2014 Upper Mountain Fire Company responded to 1,311 calls for service. While we fell slightly under our record number of 1,368 calls in 2013, it nonetheless shows an upward trend in our call volume that has been steadily progressing over the past 10 years. And even with the decline, UMT was the busiest VFC in Niagara County in 2014.

“Behind that number is a ton of training, and a dedication to our community” said UMT President Greg Sitek. “Emergencies don’t observe holidays, or bad weather, and we average more than 4 calls per day, every day of the year, at all hours of the day. As a result, UMT remains as one of the busiest Volunteer fire companies in all of Niagara County.”

Of course none of this is possible without the support of the families of our members, our mutual aid companies who call on us for assistance, and most importantly, our members who selflessly sacrifice their time to serve as first responders in Lewiston and our surrounding area. Thank you to all, and we’ll see you at the next one.
